Now, terror alert in Karnataka, India..

After Maharashtra and Gujarat, the terror alert has been extended to Karnataka now. Security was intensified in the state and vigil increased along its coastal line following intelligence inputs on terror threat.

Intelligence agencies have warned that five terrorists might have entered the state. They warned that the terrorists might target places of worship and spots of New Year festivities.

Following the alert, Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa held a meeting with the officials of home department. After the meeting, he said the state government has taken precautionary measures to avert any terror attack.

"We have taken all precautionary measures. We have put up about 160 officials from the 2nd Para battalion in Hebbal in Bangalore. The army is also offering its help and training support to the police. Our security is up to date. The news about five people entering into the state has been enquired into. Some people were questioned but they have nothing to do with this," Yeddyurappa said.

Bangalore Police Commissioner Shankar Bidari said, "In view of the New Year celebrations, adequate arrangements have been made. As compared to the previous years, we have provided additional forces. We will maintain law and order throughout the city."

"We have not received any intelligence reports. State intelligence might have received it, we will get it in due course. The country has been facing terror threats in different parts from time to time. Everything cannot be disclosed to the public," he said.

Earlier, the central government had last week put Mumbai and Ahmedabad on high alert after receiving specific intelligence inputs that Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) cadres have sneaked in to these two cities and might strike at any time in the coming days.
